                                                             Clepa Award for Collision
                                                             Avoidance System


                                                             ZF and Wabco were recently presented with the Clepa Innovation Award 2017
                                                             for their joint development of Evasive Manoeuvre Assist (EMA), a collision avoid-
                                                             ance system for commercial vehicles. The EMA prototype combines Wabco’s
         © Wabco                                             braking, stability and vehicle dynamics control systems for trucks and trailers
                                                             with ZF’s ReAX active steering system. If a rear-end collision cannot be avoided

                 Asahi Kasei | GLM | Concept Car

          Asahi Kasei and GLM Co. Ltd. have jointly developed a concept car known as the
          AKXY. This stands for Asahi Kasei X (multiplied by) You (the customer). The car has
          27 newly developed components that showcase a whole array of materials and tech-
          nologies from different Asahi Kasei business units. Almost all the components are
          available for use in mass-produced vehicles and include technical plastics that can

          parts such as head rests, headlamp covers, floor mats, seat covers and door

                                                             New Refrigerant Factory


                                                             Honeywell has brought into operation its new production facility for the vehicle
                                                             refrigerant HFO-1234yf in Geismar, Louisiana (USA). The company is expanding
                                                             its production capacity to meet the growing global demand for its next-genera-
                                                             tion mobile air conditioning refrigerant. This makes the plant the world’s largest
                                                             production site for HFO-1234yf, which is sold commercially as „Solstice yf“.
         © Honeywell                                         According to Honeywell, the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of this refrigerant
                                                             is less than 1. This is lower than carbon dioxide and 99.9 % lower than R-134a,

          HFO-1234yf refrigerant production plant in Louisiana (USA)  which has a GWP of 1300.

          Electric Van for Deutsche Post

          Deutsche Post (the German post office) is expanding its range of electric vans. Together with
          Ford, the Deutsche Post subsidiary Streetscooter is manufacturing a battery-powered delivery
          vehicle. It is based on a Ford Transit chassis fitted with a battery-electric powertrain and a
          special body that complies with the specifications of Deutsche Post and DHL Paket. Produc-
          tion is due to start in July 2017 and by the end of 2018 at least 2500 of the vans will be in use    © Ford
