New Dual-clutch Module
BorgWarner has rolled out the production of a new
series of dual-clutch modules to be installed in the
latest ZF-gearbox. The dual-clutch module, which
was specially developed and produced in Germany
for high-performance sports cars, is intended to
boost longevity and reliability while also offering
improved gear switching. High-performance wet-
running friction elements with a special groove
design minimise rotation losses and offer improved
heat resistance. The dual-clutch module series is
available with torque capacities of 570, 700 and
1000 Nm and facilitates switching in seconds
without any perceptible loss in tractive force. The
dual-clutch module also lowers fuel consumption to
the level of automated transmissions with simple
coupling. The modules are initially used in V6 and
V8 bi-turbo gasoline engines and a V8 bi-turbo
diesel engine of well-known OEMs, and are also © BorgWarner
earmarked for future hybrid applications.
Autoneum | Noise Protection Components for Electric Cars
The automotive industry supplier Autoneum has developed
noise and heat protection components specifically for electric
vehicles, which go under the name Hybrid-Acoustics Eco+.
The absence of engine noise in electric vehicles makes other
sound sources which are new or were previously drowned out,
such as fans, pumps or electronic drive components, much
more obvious. The technology developed by Autoneum is based
on a new type of fibre material that performs a noise insulation
or absorption function depending on its thickness. This enables
it to provide the best possible noise protection. Components
made from Hybrid-Acoustics Eco+ also provide heat insula-
tion and protect the passenger cell from becoming too cold
or too hot, which reduces the amount of energy needed by
the climate control system. According to the manufacturer,
this makes them the ideal solution for electric cars, where
around 20 % of the battery charge is used for temperature
© Autoneum regulation. The new interior components are approximately
50 % lighter than conventional mass-spring systems because
of their high proportion of recycled cotton fibre.
